Researchers now suspect that when chlorophyll is broken down during digestion, it becomes a potent defense against cancer. Animals fed a compound much like this digested chlorophyll at the same time they re exposed to carcinogens show a significantly lower risk of developing cancers of the stomach, colon, and live, according to Oregon State University researchers.
